Firstly I would just like to welcome all new comers to the forum and the league!
The league has been set up to support the 8th Edition Warhammer Fantasy gaming comunity.
This will be an anual league run within the UK innitialy with a view to welcome participants from other regions too. We hope to make this an enjoyable venture for us all, with the primary objective of keeping 8th Edition gaming alive.
There is a Thread created specifically for FAQ's and information regarding league play and participation, which also includes a full information pack. Please take the time to read through this and feel free to ask any questions topic related should the information & FAQ's not answer your quiery.
Please behave responsably and keep the forum a friendly and enjoyable place, as trolling will not be tollerated - the place for Trolls is on the table top!
You may feel free to post discussion about your armies, models, painting and other hobby related topics along with pictures of your minatures and give battle reports.
Scoring and rankings will be posted regularly, as and when recieved as stated within the information pack - please ensure you read it before participating!
Finally thank you for your time in reading through the forum introduction and welcome, we hope you enjoy the league!

Hi Guys
I'm Phil and have been playing Warhammer a fair old while (I'm getting on a bit!). Last year I played 8th edition tournaments at Warwick, Northampton and Worcester, where I'll have met some of you. I play High Elves, Wood Elves and Daemons. I'm a mod on Ulthuan.net, home of the High Elves, where we also have general 8th edition (and other games) discussion.

Hello
I am Damla. I have only just started playing Warhammer Fantasy. I have chosen the Wood Elves as my army and so far realy enjoy the game.
This is also my first experience of wargamming, so have a lot to learn.
My partner Mark is coaching me at the moment, but I hope to meet and play new people soon.

Hi Damla, glad you're enjoying Warhammer, it's a great game.
Wood Elves are a good army to play because they can put up a fight against almost any enemy.

Hello, just posting here because I still love this game and seeing organised groups like this makes me hope there are still chances to play the game in the future.
I have a fairly large Orcs and Goblins army (mostly Goblins, Actually mostly Arachnaroks) and a similar sized Empire Force.

We have a play session arranged at Warhammer World for next Sunday, 16th July 10am - 5pm if you care to join us. We also have regular tournaments too. Hello, I've since made an actual account, I'm Birmingham based most of the time and I tend to find myself playing at the Immortals in Sutton, there are groups in Ladywood and Walsall that I know of too but getting there and back can be a pain, so many clubs but so few have both fantasy players and are within easy distance.
I'm looking into heading to the Warhammer World session, again having to balance my ability to get there with my ability to get back.

Hi all. My name's Nikki. I'm a newbie to the league and played my first tournament this weekend just gone in Worcester. My first and favourite army is Wood Elves (I'm on the Asrai forum with the same username as here, though it seems to have died off recently). I also have Vampires, Empire, Skaven, Slaaneshi WoC, Dwarfs and a Dark Elf army that hasn't fought its way out of the boxes yet, and in days gone by had a small Tomb Kings force as well. Last week was my first proper tournament, so imagine my surprise at placing 1st! In the early days of 8th I used to help a big group of tournament-going friends practice for upcoming bouts, so in fairness I have faced many-a nasty tourney list in the past (ethereal-fronted zombie units and screamers galore? Banner of the world dragon phoenix guard with high mage? Nurgle/Shadow magic unit-melting combo with unkillable chosen death star? Check, check, check), but never managed to get an army painted up in time to go myself! I play a lot of themed armies, and never play the "meta" (only 50 wood elf bows at 3000 points?! Madness), so you're guaranteed an interesting game against me. Am looking forward to meeting and playing some new opponents  |

We've spoken on Asrai Nikki. Congrats on the win! For what it's worth, I feel your army was as well painted as Luke's but a guy who wins these things once told me that a bright colour scheme is a leg up here, it's just easier for players to see how good your army is.

It's a huge compliment that you think my army was well done - I like to convert, but am certainly no painter, and very much shy away from bright colours, so was bowled over by some of the armies on display!
What range(s) are your High Elves from? I didn't recognise the miniatures

I agree that the colour scheme featuring bright and captivating colours can really deliver a punch and of course draw attention to the army. I also found the free-hand skills and techniques in the banners very much award winning finishing touches to the armies, that usual win painting awards. I think all my army is missing is the finishing touches of some free-hand banners. |

I think you’re a good painter. “was bowled over by some of the armies on display!” This is one of the best things about tournaments. My army is mostly 3rd edition and my Wood Elf army is from the same big range that Jes Goodwin sculpted in the mid-late 80’s. Most of Luke’s models (lol, I’ve just spotted his hexagonal slottabases, seriously old school!) are the same vintage and many by the same designer.
