My partner and I decided to get round to my first introduction to Warhammer Fantasy. After looking at the different systems on offer, for Fantasy wargamming I decided to chose 8th Edition WFB. It apeals to the more competitive nature I have towards gaming and seems much more profound and indepth than the others.
I liked the range of races and their seperate army books, with the creative and imaginative backround introductions, which realy set the scene for the Old World.
I have always liked the Elves and especialy the Wood Elves in Tolkiens novels and of course The Hobbit movies.
After looking through Marks army books and seeing the models and how they portray Wood Elves I could'nt ressist. They really are beutiful and could'nt wait to get started.
We decided to play a 1000pt game, which probably was a little large for an intro, but it gave us a chance to play a varied army list.
Mark suggested just one hero character each and no magic, to keep things simple for my first game.
So here goes:
Wood Elves 1000pts:
Glade Captain: (Gen, HW,LA,SHLD,Asrai Sp, Asrai Lngbw) Bow of Loren + Hail of Doom Arrow = 129pts
Glade Guard x 10 (HW, Asrai Lngbw) Hagbane Tips = 150pts
Glade Guard x 10 (HW, Asrai Lngbw) Arcane Bodkins = 170pts
Tree Kin x 3
Wild Riders x 5 ( Mus,Std,Wild Hunter, HW,SHLD,LA,Asrai Spear) = 170pts
Treeman with Strangle Roots upgrade = 245pts
Vampire Counts 1000pts:
Vampire: (HW,HA,SHLD,) Sword of Battle, Talisman of Endurance, Dread Knight, Beguile, Aura of Dark Majesty
Crypt Ghouls x 20 (Chast) = 210pts
Dire Wolves x 5 = 40pts
Dire Wolves x 5 = 40pts
Grave Guard x 16 (Mus,Std,Seneschal, HW,SHLD,HA) = 206pts
Hexwraiths x 5 (GW) = 150pts
Varghiests x 3 = 138pts
Setup & Deployment:
